This quilted tapestry is a response to the desire for community and closeness. Fungi’s biological nature is inherently queer; nonbinary, cryptic and subversive, whilst being portrayed in the mainstream as perverse and often misunderstood. Society's depiction of fungi is comparable to that of the queer community; mycophobia and queerphobia are extensive. Here the mushrooms form a fairy ring, a symbol of goodluck for the queer community. The ribbons that embrace the piece, reference a stained glass from a socialist building in Lancashire.
